Testing Ubuntu 9.04 On My Acer Notebook

Today I'm trying to test drive the new Ubuntu version. I'm introducing to you ubuntu 9.04 desktop version.My Acer Notebook Specification
  • Model: Aspire 3620
  • CPU: Intel Celeron 1.50Ghz
  • Memory: 512 + 256MB
  • HDD: 160GB
Installation step by steps
  1. Download the iso image from the ubuntu website. (Using my WinXP desktop)
  2. Burn the iso to CD
  3. Insert the CD to my notebook
  4. Follow the instruction. Very user friendly setup.
  5. Key in the information needed.
  6. And the installation begin.
  7. After restart for the 1st time, my ubuntu is working fine.
Problems #1
  1. My wifi not functioning...ahhhh. Solve the problem with downloading the driver using "System ---> Administration ---> Hardware driver". At this step I'm using my LAN cable to access the internet.
  2. The application "Hardware Drivers" detect my wifi Broadcom B43, and the installation success.
  3. Now my wifi is working fine.
Problem #2
  1. My firefox not showing "flash" application.
  2. Solve the problem "System ---> Administration ---> Synaptic Package Manager"
  3. Using the application I'm searching for "flashplugin-installer" and install it.
  4. Now I can browse any flash application using my Firefox
Problem #3
  1. My firefox again not showing java application.
  2. I'm following the guide provide by ubuntugeek.
  3. Just "Application ---> Accessories ---> Terminal"
  4. Using the terminal key in " sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts "
  5. Follow the instructions after that.
  6. Tarraa.. no more problem for my java.
